Common questions
Which email accounts can I connect?
Any mailbox that supports IMAP — that includes Gmail, Outlook/Microsoft 365, Fastmail, cPanel and business hosting, and most providers. You enter the IMAP host, port, username and password once and the assistant connects on your behalf.
Do I need my own AI API key?
No — you can use our built-in AI to get started. If you'd rather use your own AI account (for example your own Anthropic key), paste it into settings and your email is processed under your key and your provider's terms, which keeps it out of our systems entirely.
Will it send emails without me?
Only if you tell it to. By default it writes replies and leaves them in drafts for you to review and send. Automatic replies are off until you switch them on for the specific situations you choose — so you stay in control.
How is my email password stored?
IMAP passwords and AI keys are encrypted at rest using strong encryption, with the encryption key kept outside the public web area. They're only decrypted momentarily to connect to your mailbox or AI provider, and removed when you disconnect an account.
Does it work with Gmail's app passwords?
Yes. For Gmail and Microsoft accounts with two-factor authentication, create an app-specific password in your account security settings and use that as the IMAP password — that's the recommended, secure way to connect.
What does "important" mean — will it get it wrong?
You define what important looks like in your instructions — deadlines, invoices, specific people, new enquiries. The assistant flags mail that matches, and because you review everything, a mis-flag just means an extra glance, never a lost message. It learns from the instructions you refine over time.
